The Catholic University of America offers numerous options for students to study abroad.

Its flagship program is the Rome Center located at Via Garibaldi, 28, on Rome’s Janiculum Hill. The one-acre property has a six-floor building surrounded by a 19th-century garden. The building has 24,000 square feet of usable interior space and 4,500 square feet of outside terrace. A chapel is part of the building, as well as a large dining room and a small library. The building dates to 1962-63, and noted Italian architect Giò Ponti had a hand in its design. It was built for the Sisters of Notre Dame de Sion, replacing a villa that was on the site. The center has 70 student beds, an apartment for a resident staff member, two apartments for visiting faculty, a dining room, library, and a studio for architecture students.

Rome is like no other city in the world. It has played an often pivotal role in world history for the past 3,000 years. To study in Rome is to have a unique window into the context and background of contemporary concerns.

Students studying theology and religious studies will find that Rome has been esteemed as the leading Christian city almost since the beginning of Christianity. Throughout late antiquity, medieval, and modern times, Rome has been a destination for pilgrimage and those seeking spiritual renewal.

In addition to Rome, the University offers study abroad options in almost any part of the world in which you may be interested.

Spanish Language and Ministry for Seminarians (Mexico)

Studies are primarily for Spanish language and culture and Hispanic ministry. Language instruction is provided by the Universidad Pontificia de Mexico, a Catholic University, and one of the most prestigious in Mexico. Participants join in the daily routine of the Seminario Hispano and conduct outreach to local people and parishes.
