  • Maria Cecilia Ulrickson is Assistant Professor in American Church History. She studies slavery, emancipation, and Black Catholicism in Haiti/the Dominican Republic and the wider Atlantic world. Her working manuscript, Freed Four Times in Santo Domingo, is about the four emancipations brought by revolutionary Haiti to the Dominican Republic. Her work has received awards from the Southern Historical Association: Latin America and Caribbean Section as well as the Latin American Studies Association: Nineteenth Century Section. Maria Cecilia received her PhD in Latin American History from the University of Notre Dame in 2018.
