At a graduate student conference held in the Department of Greek and Latin on Friday, Dec. 1, 15 graduate students delivered research papers on the
Confessions of Saint Augustine. Drawn from the Schools of Theology and Religious Studies, Philosophy, and Arts and Sciences (English, Greek and Latin, Semitics), participants spoke on topics as diverse as prayer and sacrifice; language, attentiveness, and faith; friendship, guilt, and loss; the metaphysics of evil; the spiritual sense of touch; and humility and community. The conference was the third in a series of fall semester events on the
Confessions sponsored by the Center for the Study of Early Christianity.
