  • Katja Hess studied Catholic Theology and German Studies in Freiburg i.Br. and Munich (First State Examination in Education, 2011; M.A., 2012). After completing her doctoral dissertation in New Testament Studies in Eichstätt on the theme of education in the Lukan portrayal of Paul (STD, 2018), she earned her habilitation in the same field with a work on the reception of ancient friendship motifs in the Gospel of John (2022). Since 2016, she has worked and taught as a research assistant, lecturer and senior lecturer in Eichstätt at the Chair of New Testament Studies.

    Hess’ research and teaching focuses on the Gospel of John, the Synoptic Gospels, with particular emphasis on the message of the Kingdom of God, and cultural and philosophical background of the New Testament writings, along with a special interest in ethical questions. She is from Germany, lives now in Brookland, together with another eight young consecrated women that belong to the Secular Institute Crusaders of Mary.
