Bishop Flores Delivers Lecture on Immigration

On 24 February 2015, Bishop Daniel E. Flores, Bishop of Brownsville, Texas, and Chairman of the Committee on Cultural Diversity at the USCCB, delivered the Third Annual Hispanic Innovators of the Faith Lecture entitled "Immigration as a Theological Paradigm for Faith and Social Justice." Bishop Flores was invited by STRS, welcomed by the Acting Dean, Msgr. Paul McPartlan, and introduced by Dr. David Lantigua, head of the Hispanic Initiatives Committee. President John Garvey was also in attendance. With the generous support of the Robert Benson Meyer Foundation, these lectures bring leading thinkers in the Church to share their wisdom concerning pressing issues of the day that touch directly on the Hispanic community of faith. Last year the School invited the Rev. Virgilio Elizondo, Professor of Pastoral and Hispanic Theology at the University of Notre Dame, to speak on Hispanic Catholics and the New Evangelization.
