Msgr. Stephen J. Rossetti, who teaches pastoral studies in STRS, published an article in America magazine online, posted September 20th.
The article is entitled: “Five Ways to Safeguard Children Everywhere.” The article summarizes the important child protection steps adopted by the American Bishops in 2002 including mandatory child safety education programs, background checks, mandatory reporting and zero tolerance. Abuse rates in the Catholic Church in the USA have plummeted as a result. He recommends that these steps be implemented nationally in all organizations that care for children.
