Society of Biblical Literature Annual Meeting
The Biblical Area was well-represented at the Society of Biblical Literature Annual Meeting in San Antonio, TX. Four professors and four students presented papers. Dr. David Bosworth presented "Teaching Intimate Partner Violence in Hosea 1-3" and "The Rape of Tamar in Psychological Perspective"; Dr. Ian Boxall presented "Seeing Christ's Angel: The Contribution of Visual Exegesis to the Interpretation of Revelation 10"; Dr. Bradley Gregory presented "Ben Sira in Latin" and "The Humble Mind in Ben Sira"; Dr. Robert Miller presented "Taybeh, Baal-Hazor, and the Hunt for Baal." Among current students, Katherine Brown presented "Breath and Bone: God's Presence Through Ezekiel's Text"; Andrew Montanaro presented "Children and Fathers in Ephesians (6:1-4): The Governing Analogy between God's Household and the Christian Family"; María Rodríguez presented "Putting Words to Work: The Function on amat DN and dabar Yhwh in Neo-Assyrian Oracles and the Three Major Writing Prophets of the Masoretic Text" and did a lightning presentation about her dissertation for the graduate student lunch of the International Qur'anic Studies Association; Eric Wagner presented "Clarifying the So-Called Canonical Place of Power: How the Bible and Ancient Near Eastern Literature and Iconography Can Help Refine Some Recent Cognitive Research". Several current students attended the conference and several alumni of the program also presented papers.
